I'm not going to sit here and dog out the new album because they obviously can still write good songs. But my opinion on why alot of these songs lack some of the fire of the old stuff is that there is not that many riffs in the songs. You can take the majority of the old songs ( Parasite, Strutter, Strange Ways, Black Diamond, Watching You, and a ton of others) and lift the vocals off and still have a great song. I'm not saying every song has to have ten parts but alot of the new stuff is geared more towards vocals which is good on some things and songs that are more cerebral or emotional but the rock songs overall are more "strumming" in nature and not enough jamming! I definitely agree with the " not enough Ace " complaints. But it's still good songwriting. My personal faves are the title song, Into the Void, Within,Journey of a 1,000 Years. Also to all of the people who think music has something to do with what year it is be for real, music is going to naturally evolve and that's good ( I personally think the new Korn album is amazing ) but to say that any band HAS to purposely change to "keep up with the times" is nonsense. Music is music regardless of how many times the earth has went around the sun.
