They came, they played, they wowed the crowd. It was none other than the Gods of Rock and Roll, the keepers of all that is sacred to the spirit of rock, the spectacular, the stupendous, the legend..... KISS!!!
After seeing their reunion tour of 1996, I was doubtful that the Psycho Circus tour could measure up. At best, I thought that it might just as good, how could perfection be improved upon? How wrong I was, the Psycho Circus tour was every bit as good as the reunion tour if not a bit better. After reading a few reviews that were somewhat critical of the fact that only 3 songs were played from the Psycho Circus album I was shocked that anyone that called themself a KISS fan could be so critical. I thought the mix of songs was perfect. The costumes, makeup, fireworks, blood spitting, smoke, levitation devices, 3-D effects, guitar smashing, and guitar pick spitting all added to the drama of the Greatest Show On Earth. But most importantly, the music could have stood on its own.
The crowed roared when the announcer introduced them, "You wanted the best, you got the best, KISS". The crowed never let up and the band never let up. They spewed out KISS classics in shotgun fashion peppered with a few Psycho Circus tunes. The crowed enthusiastically sang along and and cheered their heros on.
I personally am a big Paul Stanley fan. I spent a good deal of the concert watching his every move sometimes through binoculars. I was stunned to see what I am about to tell you. On the main stage there were two areas that jutted out toward the audience a bit. He walked out onto one, knelt down and leaned forward with his tongue seductively sticking out of his mouth. From the audience, a couple of people from the crowed lifted a woman forward to him and she met him with her tongue also out. They touched tongues and he kissed her. I couldn't believe my eyes. Did my rock and roll love KISS another woman? Well all that I can say is that I bet every woman in the crowed who loves Paul like I do was probably wishing that was her at that moment.
All in all, I had one of the best times of my life at this concert, and it was worth every penny I spent on it. By the way, I took a friend of mine to the concert who wasn't particularly a KISS fan nor had ever been to one of their concerts. She loved it. I think she is converted.
