Well.....The key word here is HYPE. And KISS didn't live up to the hype that they created. First of all, I do admit that it was a bold move by the fellas to try and play a big venue like Dodger stadium...(which holds around 68 thousand people) But the stadium at show-time was only half full at best....
Another problem for KISS was there usually GREAT live performance... This time it wasn't so great.....Besides Paul, I don't think any of the band members moved onstage at all! It was like watching wax figures just standing there. No choreography like the days of old....It was just plain BORING. The once active Gene just stood there!...I was stunned by his lack of effort!.......
Problem number 3#.....The set. No surprises here....the same exact live set from the reunion tour.....This set was mundain and predictable...And what made it worse was the fact that the NEW material sounded just plain un-rehearsed! It was like they were playing it for the first time ever! In addition, they only played three NEW songs....leaving out most of the best songs from the Psycho Circus album....This made me wonder if all those studio musician rumors are true??
The show itself(lights-pyrotectnics-BIG screens)was the only STRONG point of the entire evening. Ofcoarse this was the FIRST show of the tour... so maybe the old guys were a little nervous?? Who really knows? Hopefully- by the time they get to your city there will be better...Either way, I still remain a KISS fan.........better luck next time guys!
