Psycho Circus Tour Reviews

From: GEO11668@aol.com

I will start out by saying that I am a 20 year KISS fan and I've been to some great shows. This show was the best, it wasn't perfect but it was unforgettable. My girlfriend joined me, it was her first KISS show, not being a KISS fan it wasn't what she expected and she had a great time. We sat at the 17th row, on the floor (Ace's side), I knew the set list before the show started but it did not affect my opinion of the show. (I don't remember the exact order of the set list now, so please bare with me). I have read all the reviews for this show and it's amazing how everybody sees something different.

One of my favorite parts of the show is when the lights go down and everybody including myself chants along with "You wanted the best".

Opening with Psycho Circus sounded strong but a little strange, being so used to hearing Deuce. The first five songs work excellent togehter. Shout It Out Loud works great as a second song. Deuce still kicks ass. Do You Love Me is a great live song, especially the guitar harmonies at the end. Firehouse still works and you can't wait for the end when Gene firebreaths. The crowd didn't get into Into The Void and 100,000 Years, both of which I thought sounded good. Making Love even though a good song just didn't sound right. Paul changed the vocal during the chorus. Peter changed his part a little at the end but nothing too noticeable. Cold Gin, Doctor Love and Let Me Go R+R sounded great and got the crowd going. Ace had an off night. I am a huge Ace fan and a guitarist. I heard Ace hit a lot of sour notes that night, except for his solo. Being that this is the only show (this tour) that I have seen so far, I can only say that he had an off night. Gene's solo was great. The spit hole was a great idea. Within just didn't sound right. I could not even tell what song it was when I heard the intro. Peter's drum solo was cool, yes it's been done before but the crowd didn't seem to mind. King Of The Night Time World did not seem to fit that late in the show. I must say that I Was Made For Loving You sounded very good, the best live version I've heard yet. I was very surprised. Love Gun sounded AMAZING. Paul flew right over our heads. Everybody sang along with the chorus and it sounded AWSOME. R+R All Nite was great. When Ace's guitar started to spark and the confetti came down, I could barely see anything. For the first time I actually felt a part of the show. If Love Gun and R+R All Nite does not touch you then you are not a true KISS fan and don't bother going to another KISS show. Go buy a Greatful Dead CD and go to the next Rod Steward show because you are too old for this much fun. Peter sounded great during Beth and mellowed the atmosphere. I couldn't even tell that there were lazers in his eyes. Good job Pete. Detroit and Black Diamond ended the show better than I thought. Overall the bombs and fireworks were awesome (more than ever). Paul had a lot to say in between songs and he still knows how to get the crowd going. The 3-D was terrific, a lot better than I expected. That's why I got floor seats. It might not have the same effects on the sides. The 3-D pleased the crowd throughout the show. I left this show more than satisfied, nobody does it better. They are truly the best.
