Being a KISS fan for over 20 years, I must say this was the absolute BEST show I have ever seen. I came up from Lexington Kentucky for the Philly Expo held the day before (Nov. 22nd) and saw KISS the previous night in Philly (Great show. but a dead crowd) as well.
The setlist was the same as it was in Philly. I could have done without "Within" and "I was made for lovin' you" ( the latter thankfully I have found out from the reviews of post MSG shows has been taken out). They should do "Rock Bottom" or "Take ME'.
Well, how should I begin? The energy level was certainly up. The playing was tight. Ace, my personal favorite (I have a beagle named after him) was PHENOMENAL!! I have never heard him sing/play "Shock Me" better than I did that night!! Ace was so on. Paul was in excellent voice. Gene was vintage Gene. Peter played his ass off. Amazing.
I had seats right along side the stage, on Ace's side. (HOORAY). I did SO MUCH whooping and hollering that the band heard me. It was funny. Right before "Into the Void", (which came out great)l I shrieked, "ACE IS IN THE HOUSE!!! HE'S IN THE HOUSE" Paul gave sort of a look of "Who was that?" (Note: I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP. MY SEATS WERE RIGHT ALONG SIDE THE STAGE., SECTION 71) Ace mumbled something into the mic like " I am gonna play this for that fan up there." Well, I didn't realize that that is what he said.
Of course when it dawned on me that is what happened, during the song, I shrieked again and Paul, who was on that side of the stage heard me and mouthed to me, "Was that you?" I nodded, and mouthed "Yes". I felt like on cloud nine. Ace's guitar solo was fantastic as was peter's solo. Go get'em guys.
As for the 3-D effect, it was hokey. I got tired of seeing guitar necks and stuff. I must say that it is Gene Peter Paul and Ace that are going to sell or not sell the tickets, not the 3-D, I mean I come to the shows to see them and the whole package (blood, fire burning guitar), they do not have try to impress me as a fan with 3-D. However, I definitely recommend the show
