What words can you say to describe a KISS concert? Kick ass, ear ringing, rockin and rollin, mind boggling; an all around GREAT time! The band didn't miss a beat and they still look fantastic. We had decided to take our 8 year old son and took alot of flack for it from family and friends saying that he was too young and that it would be to wild and too loud for him, but we had been to the concert 2 years ago and he wanted to go so bad then I couldn't turn him down again. Much to my surprise the auditorium was filled with families! Some with children as young as 4. It was nice to see parents letting their kids experience this once in a lifetime opportunity.
After the opening band, Econoline Crush (they weren't bad), KISS came out on stage and took us by storm with Psycho Circus. They were having a few sound problems, Paul's mike was dead but after he realized it and moved to another one the place really started rockin! After the song Paul announced that before they went any further there was a little boy down in front and it wasn't a very safe place for him so he wanted him and his parents moved to a safer place. Security moved them to a place right by the stage and after the show Paul gave him part of his guitar!! A very classy move, in my opinion.
Then on with the show, with a few songs from the new album, which I don't own yet so didn't recognize, and some old favorites such as Cold Gin, God of Thunder, Detroit Rock City, Beth, Rock and Roll All Nite. My favorite part was when Paul said he had a flying machine that didn't look like much but did the trick. He said as much as he loves being on stage he misses being out in the audience so he hopped on that thing and swung out to the middle of the floor where there was a mini-stage we didn't even know was there. He sang Love Gun from there and even came down on the floor so people could touch him. Women were throwing all kinds of undergarments at him. He had bras hanging all over that guitar!
There was a fantastic light show and alot of pyrotechnics. There were 4 pillars of fire that lit up every now and then. The heat was so intense from them that you could feel it on your face even up in the stands. I can't imagine how Peter must have felt!
The 3D was a nice added bonus though some of the scenes were repeated toward the last of the show. The glasses given out make a cool souvineer.
The concert was well worth the money and the time. We definitely didn't leave dissappointed. Gene, Paul, Ace and Peter.....I wanted the best and I got the best.
