Converted!!! My son, age 13, has been converted to the greatest concert band in the WORLD!!! When we saw Aerosmith in September, he thought that it was the best performance on stage by any band. I quietely said to myself "Just Wait Until You See KISS". Well the time has come and KISS did not disappoint. From the opening curtain fall to the pyrotechnic and confetti filled ending, he sat in amazement at a firework, fire, guitar smoking, bloody, drum solo, firework spectacular!!! The questions after the show did not cease; How did they do this? --- How did they do that? Questions that also included the words Unbelieavable!! Awesome! The Best! The Greatest!
The set included the expected 21 songs. Having read previous reviews, I was a little disappointed that R N R A N would not close the encore, but BLACK DIAMOND was a good closer. Paul's guitar work preceding BD was pretty good.
I jumped ahead of the game. Unlike other concert buffs, I was not picky about their selection of songs or the order in which they were played. I do agree with most comments that WITHIN, although it is a great song, does not belong in the set. It is a tough song to perform and the crowd had a tough time following the lyrics. The chorus, with Gene and Paul singing over each other does not work in a live concert. They should pick another song from Psycho Circus to perform.Into The Void started off rough but Ace came around and saved the song. For other critics of ACE, I thought he was at his best tonight. Very sharp and a great performance! Gene may not be moving as much as in 96/97, however he can still capture the moment. Paul, I don't care what you say, but the man can sing and dance; my son could not believe that Paul could move the way he did in those "7 inch leather heels". Peter, had a great solo and seemed to be on all night.
To those die hards that have complained about some of the same stunts, pyrotechnics, etc TOO BAD - stay away a--holes! If you have seen Def Leppard, Aerosmith, etc. their acts do not change much either.
KISS again leads the way with their venture into the 3-D broadcasts. I thought it was a good special effect. It may need polishing, but once again, KISS is at the forefront.
KISS provided a great show!! That is all that counts.
I wish I could say the same for the dead audience. The crowd was lackluster at times. The age 40+ crowd can't keep up with the guys up on the stage.
