Psycho Circus Tour Reviews

From: James Davis

Attended the Rochester, NY show. The 3-D was great. Ace and Paul also had a new trick up their sleeves. Was very disappointed with the set list. It was very similar to the Reunion tour. If you did not see the Reunion tour, the set list was fine. They comncentrated too much on the Destroyer album again. Unfortunately, the same tunes as the Reunion tour. The good news is they did not play I Was Made For Loving You. The bad news is they did not substitute it with another song. They did not play Makin' Love as I saw in some of the reviews of previous shows. There was an attendance of 5000 according to the review in the Syracuse newspaper. Blue Cross Arena is small. There were a lot of empty seats in the upper level. Contrarily, when I saw them in Ottawa on the Reunion tour, the Corel Centre was sold out (18,000). Cold Gin and 100,000 Years sounded the tightest. Within sounded great musically live, but Gene's vocals on this night did not do the song justice. I wish they dropped Shout It Out Loud, Beth, Do You Love Me, and King Of The Night Time World this time for She, Parasite, Ladies Room, Got To Choose, or Mr. Speed. The 3-D during Ace's fantastic solo were awesome. The set list was as follows: 1. Psycho Circus 2. Shout It Out Loud 3. Deuce 4. Do You Love Me 5. Firehouse 6. Shock Me 7. Let Me Go, Rock 'N' Roll 8. Calling Dr. Love 9. Into the Void (Ace solo) 10. King OF The Night Time World 11. God Of Thunder (Gene solo) 12. Within (Pete solo) 13. Cold Gin 14. Love Gun 15. 100,000 Years 16. Rock And Roll All Nite 17. Beth 18. Detroit Rock City, and 19. Black Diamond. The following was the set list for the Ottawa Reunion tour: 1.Deuce 2. King Of The Night Time World 3. Do You Love Me 4. Calling Dr. Love 5. Cold Gin 6. Let Me Go, Rock 'N' Roll 7. Shout It Out Loud 8. Watchin' You 9. Firehouse 10. Shock Me (Ace solo) 11. Strutter 12. Rock Bottom 13. God Of Thunder (Gene/Pete solos) 14. New York groove 15. Love Gun 16. 100,000 Years 17. Black Diamond 18. Detroit Rock City 19. Beth , and 20. Rock And Roll All Nite. If Paul did not talk to the crowd so much, there would have been time for another two or three songs. You can tell why I was a little upset by comparing the two show's set lists. Even when I saw Paul's solo tour in San Diego, he did C'mon And Love Me, I Want You, and I Stole Your Love. The show was great visually. Psycho Circus sounded good. Programs were going for $20, and T-shirts $30-$35. If you did not see the Reunion tour, you'll enjoy the show more.
