THE BAND TORE UP THE MCI CENTER. PERIOD. END OF STORY.
Once the mix was straightened out (too much bass) after the first two songs, this is probably the tightest I've ever seen them. The 3-D effects were good, with the live 3-D coming across better than the filmed segments. Pyrotechnics, as usual, were fantastic. Oh yeah, did I mention that the band was tight. True to form, KISS never fails to deliver the goods...all the things we've come to expect were packaged nicely in a 2 1/2 hour show...fire-breathing, blood spitting, smoking guitar, shooting out the lights, flying Gene, flying Paul, elevated Peter (drum solo), confetti, and a sound (like I mentioned before) that was tighter than a nun. Don't miss any opportunities you have of seeing KISS during this tour. The band actually looked like they were having fun instead of just going through the motions.
As for the song list...great selections. Of course everybody has their own agenda when it comes to set lists...add this, delete this...after 20+ years of making music you come up with a set list that everybody will like. If we all got what we wanted we'd be seeing a 4 hour show. Not a bad idea, but I don't think it'll happen. You can't please everybody so everybody please just enjoy what they're offering.
I've seen KISS 8 times (Dynasty, Creatures, Animalize, Asylum, Crazy Nights, Revenge, Reunion, and Psycho Circus) and each time feels like the first. When the lights go out and the curtains fall I still get that schoolboy feeling that I'm seeing something larger than life. No other band will be able to accomplish what KISS has during their tenure as the Hottest Band in the World.
If you were looking for more of a reveiw...sorry. The show I saw and the show you're going to see will be completely different. Judge it for yourself and don't go with some pre-conceived notion of what it should be or what somebody else saw. This is KISS, and they're still the HOTTEST BAND IN THE WORLD. GO TO THE SHOW AND HAVE FUN!!!
