I have seen Kiss in 1980, 1995, 1997 and now 2001. Unfortunately, this was the sloppiest I have seen them - but the most memorable for the stage show.
I was front row and picked up on a few things..
Eric's timing was out on a few rolls, and some endings were rough, but thats expected for a guy whose had 2 weeks to learn the songs.. His solo was however mindblowing..
Paul started playing "I Still Love You" and forgot the chords.. He was trying to remember the chords by playing them quietly to himself - then gave up and played Hard Luck Woman.. followed by Shandi.
They were ahead of time - so they passed it by playing tidbits of songs. Ace started messing around with "2000 man", "New York Groove".. pretty funny.
Gene was pissed off for most of the night - Something was either wrong with the foldback - or something else.. At one point he looked to the side of the stage - glared as only Gene could - and said "MotherF****R!" and then kept cursing to himself.
There were many highlights as others have mentioned.
All in all - still a special night..
A Side Note: 1) Those that have Heaven Tickets be prepared to move forward - Apparently, the first 4 rows are free for all (May not be the case for other venues)v 2) I took my camera to try and sneek a few pictures and ended up using 2 rolls of film. The security guys down the front didn't care - although at one stage, Doc Mcgee came out and stood in front of the first row - so no pictures were taken at this time.
3) I met them at the airport - they walked straight through - but getting autographs was next to impossible.. Though shaking Ace's hand was pretty cool..
4) I went to the Hotel where they stayed and Eric Singer came down and Signed and Talked to everyone for about 1/2 an hour.. He was so down to earth.. Good on ya Eric.. Pity the others couldn't do the same "For the Fans!"...
4) Prices: T-Shirts=$45, Woman's T-Shirts (with silver KISS) = $60, Programmes=$45, Signed Ace picture (with Pick) = $45, Farewell poster = $15. Kisstory 1 and 2 were there (price unknown).
That aside - Thanks for nearly 30 years of kick-ass Rock and Roll.
