KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Brian Cahill
ABSOLUTELY SUPERB!!! The masters of showmanship did it again!!! Yes, there were some mechanical difficulties trying to get Gene back down to the stage during God of Thunder, and getting Paul off of the stage and into the audience during Love Gun, but it did not distract from the show. Matter of fact, it was kind of interesting hearing Gene sing lead vocals to Love Gun! Anyway, KISS has NOTHING to prove and didn't try to hide the problem. Always honest to their fans, Paul simply apologized for the error and stated it was a "real bummer" not being able to come visit the crowd at The Pond. The apology, although not necessary, was wonderfully accepted and the show continued as though nothing had happened!!! MASTERS of SHOWMANSHIP!!! I LOVED the lineup for the show - starting out with the Classic Alive II beginning of Detroit Rock City, and playing tunes such as Heavens of Fire and Lick it Up, and the classic live songs such as Firehouse, 100,00 Years and, my personal favorite, Black Diamond. Thanks to KISS for dropping Into the Void - it is NOT one of my favorites - but I would have loved to have heard I Stole Your Love, but I CAN'T COMPLAIN!!! I've seen KISS approximately 10 times - each time at a different venue, and this was the absolute BEST!!! We wanted the BEST, and we GOT IT!!!

I couldn't help but let the tears pour down my face as KISS played historic KISS video clips during during Do You Love Me. The way Paul introduced the song, it was as if he was telling us that he loved us, and he wanted to know that we loved him in return. During this song I just couldn't believe this might actually be the last time I will ever see my lifetime heroes perform. If, indeed, it turns out to be my last KISS show, they left me with a very lasting impression and one that will always make me proud to be a member of the KISS Army. I HONESTLY believe this is the Farewell of KISS - because they have always been open and honest with us, the fans. They have definitely accomplished everything and I will be happy for them to move on with their lives and their other ambitions. To wish them anything else would be selfish. They've given us KISS fans YEARS of sweat and blood and we need to let them know their efforts have been GREATLY appreciated. As Paul said toward the closing, "Please don't ever forget us, because we will never forget you." KISS - we fans will NEVER forget you!!! You have been and are the BEST!!!
