As a young concert-goer said in an earlier review of this show, "We all have our problems, right?" Absolutely! In fact, the Spinal Tap moments of this show were endearing. It sort of humanized the band. And if it hadn't been for the glitch in "Love Gun", would it have had that extra boost once Paul got back on stage? The anger he brought to it amped it up more than a few notches! Anyway....I'm gonna write just a few thoughts...some pros and cons of the show:
PRO:
* Ted Nugent can play his ass off.
CON:
* He is one of the most faux-macho brain-dead dorks when he starts his political rantings. (However, I sort of think the irony surrounding him is interesting...he wasa contemporary of the late '60s hippie era, but his political views were more like that of the right-wing zealots the hippies were rebelling against. I'm glad he's making use of his first-amendment rights. It adds zing to a rock and roll show, but his words were really firing up these weird white-supremist dudes sitting near us. It wouldn't surprise me at all if those dudes went out and beat up some Mexicans in the name of the Motor City Madman.)
PRO:
* Ace and Peter were in tip-top shape...the best I've seen either of them live.
CON:
* God bless him, but Paul's natural vocal register is a few steps lower than he went for all night with those high-pitched reworkings of many of his best melodies.
PRO:
* Gene had a great bloodbath this show! He really hammed it up! It was great!
CON:
* There is no Gene con. Gene is god.
So, those are just a few of the thoughts that enter my head on this day after the big show. Right now, they are probably putting on makeup for tonight's show. Skid Row is probably just finishing up. Paul and Gene are probably kicking some MAJOR ass backstage making sure that there are NO technical glitches tonight.
I hope to make the San Bernadino show. If that doesn't happen....PLEASE KISS.....COME AND DO A FINAL SHOW ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ORANGE CURTAIN! FOR GOD'S SAKE!!!!!!!!!! Tare care all KISS fans! Enjoy the rest of the tour! Love, Keath
