Skid Row-What was the point? The arena was so empty at 7:00 it looked as if they were doing a sound check. They sounded ok,but the opinion of those near me was that without Sebastian they should hang it up. Maybe KISS should have given Union this slot...
Ted Nugent-Great guitar playing and some kick ass rock n' roll songs. Tommy Aldridge is a very impressive drummer. The crowd was way more responsive to him than they were to Skid Row.
Kiss-The into was great as they lowered from the light rig. It was different than VH-1 as the band were not posing, they were waving to the fans on the way down to the stage. DRC opened the show complete with pyro and killer light show. Paul was in top form and kicked some serious ass on stage. The band seemed to be having fun until some SERIOUS technical problems haunted the rest of the show. At the end of God of Thunder Gene's cable that lowers him to the stage from the light rig stopped short of the stage by a few feet and left him dangling. A couple of roadies had to run on to the stage and undo his harness. It was right out of Spinal Tap. The band continued on but the next problem happened when Paul got on his harness and cable to "fly" across the arena to the small stage by the sound board and the cable stopped moving. The band was playing "Love Gun" and Gene decided to sing the song as Paul was stuck dangling over the crowd. It was the most akward situation I and many others have witnessed at a concert. Finally Paul was manuevered back to the main stage. For some reason many of the fans on the floor tried to grab at Paul as the Kiss road crew tried to pull him to safety. Why? Paul was probably stressed enough without a couple of dozen jerks trying to grab at him. I feel from this point on that the band could not wait to end this show and go to sleep!!! I would not want to be the members of the road crew who had to answer to Mr. Simmons concerning all of the techinical problems at the show. "I Stole Your Love" was not played in the encore. Presumably the band wanted to make a quick exit. Beth was played and then Rock and Roll All Night with the usual confetti cannons. I think KISS will want to schedule a proper LA show at the Forum or Staples Center for later in the tour as Anaheim is really in Orange County. Also, as they claimed in the show that this is their home now I doubt that this problem filled show would be the last impression that such a great band would want to leave on us here in So. Cal.
