Well, what can you say that hasn't been said already? Overall, the show was excellent and high energy. Everything you would expect, with a thankful attitude from Kiss.
Paul thanked the audience several times reminding the crowd that this was it. Interesting enough, he did tease that they might come through LA again since it was where the boys in the band now live. I was happy he was ok when he got stuck over the audience. After going through a routine to get the audience pumped up to get him to come out and sing, I think he was a little embarrassed he had to be carried back to the stage to restart Love Gun.
Ace was hot. After reading many of the reviews and other Internet news boards that Ace is just going through the motions just did not seem to be true. His guitar playing really makes (carries) the band. He was fast and did a great job of showmanship. I even like his singing on 2000 Man and Shock Me.
Gene was sharp as well. He is the ultimate performer and was on top of his game. He had some fun with some panties that were thrown to him. He seemed amused by the little under garments. He too got stuck in his special equipment, but was quickly rescued by some roadies.
Peter reminded me of Ringo Star and Gene Krupta. He was smiling, waving, rocking, chewing the gum, and just generally having a fun time on stage. His singing sounded great, and his drumming was on as well. His drumming is not the flashest (especially after following the famed Tommy Aldridge who is drumming for Nugent), but Peter is such an important component for the Kiss sound and his style is great.
I saw KISS the first time in 1976 at the LA Forum (my first concert of any kind), then in 1978 at Anaheim Stadium, then at the LA Forum again for the taping of Live II, and this will probably be the last time. If this is the last time I do get to see them, it was worth it and the memory will be a great one. Thanks KISS!!!
