Kiss rocked Atlanta in all of their ear-shattering, blood-spitting, fire-throwing, dance-moving glory. It was truly a spectacle to behold. The usual setlist was played.
There were some glithces, but minor. Ace forgot to come up to his microphone for his entrance on Shock Me, and therefore was completely lost in the words. Paul came to the rescue to share the mike and lyrics for the first verse. Both of them were grinning and laughing about it.
The flame throwers got a late start... In the middle of Heaven's On Fire, they finally started belching their load.
Now, on to Peter (as he has had lots of debate as of late). He really paced himself early in the show. I'm the biggest Kiss fan around, but it is very apparent that he just can't give it what he used to. Not that he's playing badly... He's playing quite well, but it is too obvious that he is just tapping the drums and not really getting into it.
The thing that bothered me the most about his performance was that there were some licks that were being played that, frankly, he didn't play. I'm a drummer myself. I had primo seats to view Peter (section 212, Row C, Seat 9). I can't recall the songs this happened on, but they were all in the first half of the show. The most obvious were runs down the toms from high to low... He was busy playing hi-hat, snare, and bass drum when out of nowhere, a sixteenth-note run across the toms came in. Folks, there's something fishy goin' on here!
Now, as for the last half of the show, Peter gave it his all. No more phantom fills... It was all 110% Peter. He actually played his ass off for the last part of the show, much like he did "way back when."
All in all, it was an awesome experience.
We'll NEVER forget you...
