Saw Kiss in San Antonio March 31, 2000. Decided that that show was so awesome that I had to do it one more time.
Skid Row, I missed them. Enjoyed the Austin Hooter's girls and chicken wings with my friend Johnny and David before the show.
Arrived just in time for Ted Nugent. Ted seemed a little tame, maybe just tired from the tough road schedule. He was his usual opinionated self. When he proclaimed," If you cannot speak English get the hell out of America." Someone in the crowd started throwing things at him. Ted had some very kind words for them. HaHaHa!!! You can just imagine. Ok, on to Kiss.
Kiss!!! Kiss!!! Kiss!!! Man, where they ever on top of their game. Since March they have become so fluid and tight with their show and music. It was awesome. They where downright perfect. My friend Johnny who I took to the show loved them so much that he wants to see them again. We may catch them Tuesday August 22 in Houston. Ace was talkative and smiling, Peter almost had a permanent grin while playing the drums, Paul was emotional and sincere in his statements of missing Austin, and Gene was incredible during God of Thunder. I loved his facial expressions. The cool part of the show for me was when Ace did his solo. He shot his rocket off the guitar and the rocket exploded on the right side of the stage. About two seconds passed and there where a few sparks and four parcan lights on a truss fell to the stage. I was like," Wow!!! Man there show is getting so big that they are starting to blow the stage up."
If you never saw Kiss or are a fan of Kiss take someone with you who has never seen them. They will love you for it. Every person should have a chance to see the pinnacle of rock shows. There will never be another show like it. That is sad, but memories a great. So go get you memory, and rock on.
