Hello, fellow members of the KISS Army!! This show was the second on this tour that I have seen, and unfortunately, the last. However, I could not imagine a better finish to a musical career than the one provided for the fans that night. Honestly, I didn't listen to the Skids or Ted for two reasons: 1) I have heard them both before. Ted's political banter and race related comments were getting boring, and the singer for the Skids' voice was gone by this time in the tour. 2) Sorry to say, opening groups, but I wanted the best, I got the best, and the best was KISS, not any opening band they could muster up. Now on to the main act...
The boys were in stellar form (no pun intended, Paul). Ace and Paul had lost a considerable amount of weight, and Gene was looking a bit thinner than usual as well. I didn't get queasy at the sight of the big hole in the thigh of his suit, so I guess that's a good sign. Peter and Ace drove the band through the first few songs. They opened with Detroit Rock City, of course, and then moved on to Deuce, Let Me Go Rock and Roll, Do You Love Me? (with video clips), Firehouse, Cold Gin, Shout It Out Loud, Lick it Up, Heaven's on Fire, 2000 Man, Shock Me, God of Thunder, Love Gun, I Love It Loud, 100,000 Years, 2 verses of I Still Love You (followed by Black Diamond), etc. Encores were Beth and Rock 'n' Roll all night. Ace's guitar solo was hot!! So hot, in fact, that when the rocket "shot off" the end of his guitar to stage right, the explosion knocked three canister lights from the rafters. A scurrying roadie retrieved them. Surprisingly, there was no drum solo. I wonder why not??? Gene's blood spitting antics were wonderful, as usual. Frankly, this is the best KISS show I have seen. Granted, due to my limited time on this earth, I have only been to five, but I'd have to give this show an 11 out of 10!!! Definitely the best of the 53 shows I have been to in my few years. It was a thrill to have the best seat in the house to the greatest show on earth. Thanks, boys!!!!
