I drove up from the New Orleans area to see the Birmingham show. A 6 hour ride that was worth every mile and dollar I spent. I already knew what was going to happen most of the night due to reading these posts, but it is still amazing to see. The arena was sold out, we had tickets on Ace's side, low, right near the corner of the stage.
Skid Row - New singer not as bad as has been written about, nothing special though. They were really too loud right at first, throw out the first two songs and it was a pretty good set. New bass player really doesn't fit in. Who is he?
TED - Wasn't quite as profane as everybody makes him out to be, guess they can't handle that talk out west. "Kiss My Ass" got a great response in Alabama. Guy from Brother Cane sat in on Cat Scratch Fever. Ted said the opening guitar lick in "Stranglehold" could cure gender confusion. (So to speak)
KISS - As a 25 year fan who can be critical if deserved, I can't think of anything bad to say. I hate these people who are always complaining. The show was amazing. My kid's eyes were bugged out as KISS rode down while playing Detroit. There's something surreal about seeing it live. Set list the same. Random thoughts: Peter played great had looked to be having a blast. It was neat to see him play the 80's stuff and sing on it. All the stunts went off as planned. They didn't come near here on the Psycho Circus tour so last night was the first time I saw Paul's yellow Washburn and Ace's lighted guitar. Paul sneezed twice while in mid-yack, it was funny. (thought I'd throw that in there for ya) Gene's lipstick and chin makeup came off from the mike after about 5 songs and he never touched it up, of course after the blood later it doesn't make a difference. Paul's hair was a wig on VH1 live, but it looked real last night and I was right in front of him at times. As yo! u can tell my wife and I had intelligent discussions on the ride back today. They blow the whole deal up at the end and it was UNbelievable. One negative, my $30 tourbook fell apart on the ride home today, pages came unglued. I'm going to the New Orleans show on Sunday night, that may be my last one. I almost chocked up when Peter thanked the crowd after Beth. Musically they were tighter than the reunion tour. Go see the show. There's nothing equivalent. PS Gene spit a blood loogie on the crowd from above in GOT. I'm in 13th row in New Orleans and will run up there hoping he does it again. Later
