KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Big Al
After reading all the positive reviews of the Farewell Tour from around the country, I was stoked to see the boys perform on their second night at the Tweeter Center. It's an open-air amphitheatre, and I've never seen a Kiss concert in that type of venue, so I thought it would be a nice change of pace. I was right. I had what amounted to second row seats on Gene's side of the stage courtesy of my oldest friend and the biggest Kiss fan in the whole damn revolution. They turned out to be perfect seats and gave us a chance to be up close and personal with not only Gene, but Ace and Paul as well. Definitely added to the whole experience.

The show itself was without a doubt the best Kiss show I've ever seen, and I've been going with my buddy since the Dynasty tour in '79. The boys had more energy and enthusiasm than I've seen in a long time, certainly more than the Psycho Circus tour and at least as much as the Reunion tour. They absolutely cranked through one song after another and danced, prowled, and strutted over every inch of that stage for two hours. Paul's voice has never sounded better, and his raps were longer and more etnthusiastic than I've ever heard them. As usual, Gene was working the women on our side of the stage, of which there were several hotties to choose from, and suffice it to say we all got ample tit shots which are always a good thing. Ace was in tremendous form on this night, nailing all his solos with fire and precision, while maintaining his usual spacy aura. Peter was working his ass off behind the drum kit and deserves more credit than he gets for pounding the skins.

I thought all the songs sounded great, but Lick It Up and Let Me Go Rock n' Roll were particularly hot. I also thought 100,000 Years was a highlight, and I don't usually like that song as much. And the confetti and sparking pinwheels during Rock n' Roll All Night was beyond belief. I've never seen so much confetti at a Kiss concert. It was like New Year's Eve met Mardi Gras met Spring Break met the 4th of July and they all had one hell of a party.

All in all it was a great time and a fitting tribute to the hottest band in the world. If it is indeed a farewell, it was a fond one and one I'll never forget. And being there with my buddy, the most loyal soldier in the Kiss Army, made it that much better. Rock on, people.
