KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Tom D.
Night 2 in Boston of the greatest show in the world and tonight's theme for Ace was "Hey Beer Man!" He certainly was at the side or back of the stage enough calling his name. Enough of that. Skid Row? Head to the beer tent or take a whiz. (Though I did forget how good Monkey Business is) Nugent? You know, Ted is filling in off nights from KISS with some small shows; GO SEE THIS BAND PLAY, IT IS WORTH YOUR TIME OFF FROM WORK AND YOUR FIRST BORN MALE CHILD. Stranglehold is one the great songs going and as Ted says, it is an American classic. As for KISS, they were absolutely lethal at the start of the show. DRC, Deuce, everything up to Shock Me was tight and just screaming. Then something seemed to happen. Ace was late coming from backstage between songs (Hey Beer Man!)and Paul was stalling in his rap. Then Ace got lost at the end of Shock Me and kept singing the chorus as the band ended the tune. Very obvious mistake and the audience picked up on it. The set rolled on until just before 2000 Man, where Paul seemed to be pissed at Ace, yelling as the lights were going down. Ace seemed to shrugg it off and made a comment about his being Mr. Wonderful. The mood definately changed and much of the rest of the night seemed to be off again. The difference was the band did not seem to have the same energy as at the start of the night or even the previous night. However, Gene did get his rig to work for God of Thunder and the pyro was greater and more balanced through the show.

A couple of comments: Paul's flying trick is worth the price of admission and is easily the highlight of the show. He seems to really get off on it and crowd goes batshit. His vocals are also the best I've heard in the 17 years since I first saw KISS. Just an amazing performer. I also have to comment that the crowd was not that energetic tonight, as compared to last night. Lots of 35 - 40 year old folks with kids who just don't scream like they did at 16. That said, there were lots of great looking women exposing their breasts, which is never a bad thing.

Good for 4 beers from a sixer.
