KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Wray Bunt
Like most of the smarter fans, I skipped out on the Skid Row/Nugent opening crap. My girlfriend and I hung outside eating the suprisingly good pizza at the HSBC arena, and we could hear the diatribe Nugent was spewing on the crowd. You know you suck when the only impression you leave are the curse words and insults on certain politicians and leaders. Ooohhh, he said the big daddy f-word, he's so street tough and worldly wise! Where was Cheap Trick when we needed them?

Let's get to the point. The fellas came out and just blew the place up. The video screen behind them was the best I've ever seen, miles ahead of the reunion tour. It was so good I caught myself watching it rather than the band at times. Especiallly during "Do You Love Me?", the old photos and footage were very cool. It really drove home the fact that this was it for them. "Deuce" was great as usual, that song has so much life to it, you can see they really enjoy playing it. "Let Me Go, Rock and Roll" came off great too. They're no Grateful Dead, thankfully, but they can jam when they want to WITHOUT putting the audience to sleep!

I'm a huge Ace fan, but Paul never ceases to amaze me at their shows. He just commands attention, and he's truly origional when he speaks to the crowd. I could do with a little less of his goofy guitar poses, but it's a small price to pay for the the great show he puts on. I must admit I'm not a big "Love Gun" fan, but the whole flying in the crowd has made me change how I feel about the song. Of the 3 shows I've seen, it's always my favorite part. And to top it off, he sings a little "I Still Love You" right before "Black Diamond". That just blew me away, a total suprise.

Everything was great, the only band I stand up for all the way through, every time. And the time just flies, you know? When the lights were down before the encore, I kept thinking what are we all gonna do when this tour is over?
