What a great show! Kiss proved once again why they are the greatest band in rock history. I was just glad i was able to see them one more time before they are gone forever. After i saw them on the Reunion Tour i made my wife promise that she would go with me the next time i went to see them live, and she kept her word. Even though she knew most of their songs (she didn't have much choice being around me) she has never been a big fan, but that changed last night. After wondering what she got herself into on the way to the show, she was ready to go see them later this month in Pittsburgh by the time the night was over. It won't be hard to convince me to go see this show again.
First of all, i was impressed with how good Skid Row sounded and how well the crowd responded to them. I enjoyed hearing some of the old songs and the new lead singer sounded pretty good. He doesn't have the voice that Bach has but he sounded good on everything but "I'll Remember You". I have never been a big fan of Ted Nugent but he sounded pretty good and the fans responded well to his political statements. Especially the NRA statements. Plenty of avid hunters in WV.(By the way, my wife despised Ted and spent most of the set out on the concourse)Tommy Aldridge was great on the drums, the highlight of Ted's show.
On to the main event. KISS sounded great! Everyone knows the set list by now and it didn't change this night. What a great start to a show with "DRC", "Deuce", and "Shout it out Loud". I was really impressed with how good "Heaven's on Fire" and "lick it up" played with the audience. I wasn't sure about those songs when i first read the set list but i have to admit i was wrong. I know some people didn't want to see them include "Psycho Circus" either, but they really busted it out. Ace and Peter seem to be having a good time with them too. Paul was at his best during the show, he seemed to have some trouble with his voice early in the show but that was gone by halfway through. Gene was his demonic self. Ace sounded great, and Peter looked like he was having the time of his life. The only glitch that was really noticable was when Ace's guitar didn't fly, but Ace made a joke about it and moved on. It was just a great show.
Anyone who is trying to decide whether or not the Farwell Tour is worth seeing, believe me, it is worth every penny. Any KISS fan who misses out on seeing "The Hottest Band in the World" is missing out on something special. This show is truly a tribute to the fans.
