KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: PredatorsFan
Greetings to All! I live in Nashville and can't wait until Friday when KISS brings there Farewell Tour to town. So anxious to see them, the family and I decided to take a road trip to Chattanooga to see them a few days early! I grew up in Chatt-town and knew the UTC arena would be a great place to see them since it only seats around 11,000. First off, PLENTY of merchandise stands! Good Job Guys! Only waited maybe 4 minutes, still had time to get munchies, bathroom, etc. before the show started. I've read where it is terrible trying to get merchandise, not here! Anyway, Skid Row began the evening. They obviously got there new singer for his Bach-ish look. Was thrilled when they left the stage! Uncle Ted was next. From the reviews I've read, I expected the worst from him. Not from music aspect, but from him trashing everyone. He did spout out a few times, but not as bad as I expected. His band was tight, much better than the opening acts they carried on the Reunion tour and Psycho Circus tours. After Ted, of course the real show started! I have not read any reviews for about 3 weeks so I wouldn't know every move they would make. Opening was awesome! Came down from atop the lights while playing DRC. Peter of course was behind the kit. I liked this better than what I saw on VH-1 Opening Night. I won't list the whole set, but they sounded great and seemed to really have a good time. Ace looked great, he'd dropped some weight. Paul's 'hair' was kind of flat? It did look more natural though. I was worried during Shock Me, in the last chorus, Ace was singing way behind! I thought, oh no, I hope he is not 'out of it'. After the song he did go to the side of the stage and point back from where he had sang, probable just a monitor. The 'Do You Love Me' video highlights was nice! I saw the Vancouver show and kind of missed seeing the opening 10 minute video, but a lot of it appears here. 2000 Man was great to hear again since New Year's Eve, I'm glad they are not doing Into The Void, of course New York Groove would have fit here also followed by his solo. He did play some snip-its from 70's KISS and his solo LP. Shortly after was Gene's solo. He really seemed "into it" during the blood spitting! The way he rolled his eyes and just let it dangle--this was definately the best I've ever seen him when he has his solo and my first KISS show was in 1977. God of Thunder and Cold Gin followed the solo. As 100,000 years began, my wife, the kids and I left our seats to head to the small stage Paul flies out to. Our seats were 18 rows back on the floor and there was only two more rows behind us, so we were right up there on the barricade so we would be as close as possible to Paul. While they were playing 100,000 years, I was watching the stage, then glanced out of the corner of my eye and Doc Maghee was handing my children a couple of picks! WOW! What a guy! I told him we drove from Nashville and look forward to seeing them again in 4 more days and thanks so much for taking care of the kids! Paul still plays 'I Still Love You' during the 'Black Diamond' intro. 'Beth' and 'R&R All Nite' are still the encores. Seems like they use more confetti than usual, and LOVE THOSE PINWHEELS!!! To me the stangest thing is after Paul smashes his guitar, I'm so use to hearing him say "We'll see you all again real soon!", well of course he can't say this anymore so thanks for the memories guys and sticking around long enough for my children to see you!!!
