KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Ron Ivanjack
Chicago was my 11th show of the Farewell Tour. The World is a large outdoor shed but no lawn seats were sold. Even without the lawn, it probably holds close to 10,000 and it was pretty full. I continue to have good luck with seats and was 7th row center.

Skid Row was the only opener this time. The extended set gave them time to add some additional songs like “Mudkicker”, “Psycho Love”, “Psycho Therapy” and “Get the Fuck Out”. The turnaround time before Kiss was only 20 minutes.

Once Kiss hit the stage, the proved that they are the best band in the world. They ripped through the familiar set and seemed to be in a good mood. One thing that was really cool was that the seats in the front row were so close that the band was able to hand picks to people.

The highlight of the show for me though was Ace. I made an Ace sign and he spotted it and pointed and me and tried to throw me a pick but it didn’t have the distance. A little later when the lights were on and the cameras were panning the crowd, Ace motioned for the cameraman to catch my sign so I finally made it on the big screen.

There have been tons of rumors about Peter but he really did have a black tear painted under his right eye. Before singing Beth, he said this was the last time he’d be performing it and he didn’t sing the first verse. Not sure exactly what to make of that.

Before RARAN, Ace started playing some science-fiction sounding riff and the rest of the band jumped in for a few bars. No medley or IWMFLY like last week though.

I have one more show (?) tomorrow in Champaign. Kiss definitely rules the world.
