KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Big George
Well, where to start. I have followed this band since I was six years old and I can't get enough. It is sad to think this is the last go for the boys, but I was glad I got in on it.

So, here we go.

I missed Skid Row because my girlfriend was putting on her Gene makeup.

Ted was fairly in check. He didn't go off on any real redneck rants. He rocks but the guy is just a little squirrelly for me. Anyone who wears a confederate flag shirt and indian head dress is clearly clueless. I mean don't get me wrong I love "Stranglehold" as much as the next guy but he seems like a bad politician mugging for the camera at times.

Which brings us to the hottest band in the world. The crowd in Chicago was really electric for this show. The place was packed to the roof and ready for the boys when the curtain finally dropped. The setlist was the same so no need to get into that. A cool thing that was different from Psycho Circus Tour was the 3-d movie that played during "2,000 Man" instead of Ace doing "Into the Void". It just seems appropriate for them to do "2,000 Man" this time around but I miss "New York Groove".

The 80's songs were cool to hear but something it is just weird to me when they play them with Peter and Ace. I will take "I Love it Loud" whenever I can get it though. Peter did some cool backing vocals in "Lick It Up". And "Heaven's On Fire" provides a perfect back drop for lots of flames pots to go off.

"100,000 Years" absolutely rocked. They draw it out and Paul gives the "If you believe in Rock and Roll" speech, it does a mind good to hear this. Long live rock.

"Let Me Go Rock and Roll" was awesome. They were jamming this one out like the Alive I version and then some. Man, when Ace hits those leads it is bliss.

"Black Diamond" closed the show and was very hot. Peter's vocals always have the Wild sound to them. Paul also sang a verses of "I Still Love You" before breaking into the "Black Diamond" intro. I'm not a big fan of "I Still Love You" but Paul sold the song with his vocals tonight almost some Phantom of the Opera shit the way it sounded.

"Dr. Love" and "God of Thunder" were classic. Gene's bad ass solo is still kinda scary to me after all these years. No one can make the bass burp and growl like he does--it is fucking classic. Gene also smashed several water bottles with his big ass boots sending water flying in every direction.

Paul soared out into the crowd for "Love Gun" and honestly thanked the crowd for all their support and reminded the crowd that anytime they see a band don't forget that the fans are doing the artist a big favor by showing up. A point I thought was very cool especially with ticket prices these days.

"Shock Me" was sharp and Ace didn't miss his into and remembered all the lyrics. Hell, I was nervous for him, I wanted to lie flat on my back and look up and sing along with him.

The encore was the encore.

"Beth" and "The Anthem"

Lot's of confetti and smashed guitars.

I will miss Kiss, but they will never be out of me life.

Peace & Rock on I wanna be President
