KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Eric
It's been 2 days since the concert, but i'm just NOW getting back to reality after seeing "The Greatest Band In The World...KISS!!" This review is gonna be kinda long, but just read it,it will be worth it. I'm only eighteen, but I sure as hell know a good concert when I see one. I had some really shitty seats, up in the upper concourse area,to the side of the stage, but we still had lots of fun,I went with three of my friends.

Let's just get right to the show: First off we went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at around four o'clock because Gene and Paul were to sign autographs for one hour. We were at the end of a HUGE line, so we gave up because we wouldn't be able to get autographs because time was running out. So we just walked to the side where we were about 15 feet from them. Then we just took some bootlet pics of us standing with the 2 KISS members in the background, it's better than nothing. One thing that was cool was I shouted "HEY PAUL!" and he looked up at me and said "What's up man",as I took a pic. Me and my friends got to the Gund when Skid Row was doing their last song,so we missed them (Oh Darn...we were busy getting high anyway). Then the Motor City Madman himself, Ted Nugent, took to the stage 15 minutes later. He was fuckin' tight. I always liked him, but to see him LIVE is truly an experience. All he had was himself, a bassist, and a drummer, but he kicked ass. In between songs he would say some politically incorrect/racists jokes, that were pretty funny. He would say shit like "Even faggots are gonna get some pussy tonight!", and "Jesse Jackson is a stupid mother fucker" He constantly made cracks at Africans and gays. During the song "Kiss My Ass", he was saying "Janet Reno and Jesse Jackson could kiss my fuckin' ass". He called the crowd pussies(for fun) for drinking alcohol, because he is 51 years sober. "Oh, beer pressure my ass!" is what he said about that. The Nuge is tight, cuz he like didn't do any substance abuse in the 70's, but instead banged like 10,000 girls or something like that.He was wearing a cowboy hat, and jumped over the stage speakers a few times.During his encore, He came out wearing a Indian Headdress, after the song he placed his guitar on the wall, then brought out a bow and arrow. He kneeled down, and then shot his guitar dead center, which resulted in pyrotechnics going off. All in all, his one-hour set was very entertaining.

Now we get to the headliners: KISS. It started off with all the lights off, and that very familiar line "You wanted the best, you got the best..", then pyro shot off, the curtains dropped, and all 4 members were lowered from the ceiling on top of a platform. They immediately started doing "Detroit Rock City". Throughout the show Paul talked to the crowd the most, and they were as pumped as the fans were. Each one did their trademark antics they've done over the years: Ace had a guitar solo, which during it his guitar began to smoke, then it shot off pyro into the air in a straight path..he then let go of the guitar, which stayed suspended in air..and then it levitated straight up into the air, all the way to the lighting area, still holding onto the same screeching note. Another guitar Ace has had a spiriling firework effect, as he played, it was cool. Paul was swinging his microphone around, at one point he threw it up, but dropped it, but he just did a roll on the ground to amusingly play it off. During "Love Gun" Paul went on a cable and "swung" over the audience onto a small "stage" in the center, as he said he wanted to get as close to the fans as possible. After the song he swung back to the main stage. At one point Gene was alone on stage and started drooling blood, which was cool. He then spread his arms, stuck out his tongue, and "flew" straight up into the lights, where he sang "God of Thunder". During a earlier song Gene did his famous Fire eating effect. He shot a line of fire about 15 feet into the air, then threw the dagger thing onto the ground, which was cool. Almost every song in the two-hour set had pyrotechnics, flames, and confetti going off. The encores were "Beth" and "Rock and Roll All Nite". Peter came out to sing "Beth" by himself, which was cool. Then we got to the last song, "Rock and Roll All Nite". During the song Ace and Gene stood on platforms that rose them into the air. Peter's entire drum set also rose too...then Paul threw his guitar into the air, caught it, began smashing it on the ground as pyro went off. He then tossed the broken guitar into the crowd and they said "Goodbye, We love you Cleveland!" and then the arena lights went on...

Man, this was the greatest concert I've been to. The only song they didn't sing that I wanted to hear was "Strutter". I'm sorry to seem them end it all, after like 28 long years, but It's what they want to do. Well, I'm just happy to say that I was part of the KISS ARMY and that I got to see them live during their Farewell Tour. Thanks for the great memories Gene, Paul, Ace, and Peter.....KISS FUCKIN'ROCKS!!!!!!!
