KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Melissa
The show started as expected, with Skid Row screaming out their songs, which to my surprise were actually pretty good. Then "Uncle" Ted entered the stage on his buffalo...yes an actual buffalo. I had never before seen Ted Nugent live, and all I will say is that the name Motor City Madman is completely justifiable. He was wonderful. On to the stars of the evening. Kiss started the night appropriately with Detroit Rock City, and the crowd was on their feet from the second they hit the stage. They went through the songs one by one, bringing back memories of the past 27 years, all the while telling us thank you and how much they love us and please do not forget them. I don't think forgetting KISS will ever be a problem, they have always been there. From my first teen-age kiss to last night's show, and so many memories in between KISS are just as much a part of my life as spending time with friends. While the concert didn't seem to hold the energy that the Psycho Circus Tour had, the guys were pouring their collective hearts out. I was a little surprised that they didn't do more for their individual solos. Gene played a quick chord or two before the blood spewing began. He was really enjoying that. Peter played a drum solo that completely rocked, but it was short. Paul's only solo moment was a few notes leading eventually into Black Diamond. Ace's solo set the crowd on fire. He played every note with perfection, as only Ace could. No disrespect to the "other members" of the band, but my favorite has always been and will always be the ORIGINAL four. The evening was a terrific event with everyone having a night to remember for eternity. Detroit isn't really known for being a friendly place, but when we love you it is FOREVER. To the band members: I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU.
