KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Steve
Well, I must say that I was a bit skeptical before the first show at the Continental Arena on June 27. I had seen the two shows at Jones Beach and while I thought they were both solid shows, I felt as if something was missing. I thought that the boys had lost a step or two. But after witnessing the two shows in E. Ruthorford, all I can say is, "I was dead wrong." Kiss put on two of the BEST shows I have seen since they came back. I think the biggest difference between the Jones beach shows and the Arena shows was the venue itself. Although it was nice to see a Kiss concert outside at Jones Beach, their show is better suited for an indoor arena. There was much more pyro at the Continental Arena and the energy of the crowd was insane. I know people like to summarize each band member's performance so I will do that now.

Paul: Incredible energy. I can't believe how this man continues to put some much into each show. from the looks on his face he seems to truly enjoy being up on stage night after night. yes, his raps between songs can get old, but I don't think their is any frontman out there who gets the crowd involved the way Paul does. He had more energy the 2nd night than the first. Amazing.

Gene: Like Paul, more energy 2nd. night. Much more mobile. Really got into the God of Thunder routine. Crowd ate it up. Looks at Peter a lot. Maybe to get him pumped. Underrated bass player.

Ace: Always the star of the show. 1st night a few flubs but was still great. 2nd, night he was a master. Sound was also clearer 2nd. night. I think he's getting better as the tour goes on.

Peter: Everybody stop whining about Peter. Maybe he paces himself during the shows but I saw him punding, yes pounding, the crap out of the drums on most songs. He is showing a lot of energy and both nights was smiling a lot. Horsed around during bowing on second night. Crowd still loves "Beth" (great dico ball effect during song.

Crowd: Jersey, you're great. Even though I am from NYC I must admit that you were pumped up both nights. 1st show was sold out. Must have been largest crowd Kiss has played to in Continental (formerly Brendan Byrne) since they first played there in 1985. You people were LOUD. 2nd. night many empty seats in upper deck but energy was still high. And too show everyone what a great band Kiss is, they played as hard, if not harder, the 2nd. night.

I hope this isn't the last time I see Kiss. Rumor has it that they will finish the tour (and career) at MSG. If those shows are anything like the Jersey shows then we are all in for a great finale. Thanks Kiss and thank you Jersey.
