Naturally the show was AWESOME !
The outdoor venue provided more opportunity for pyrotechnics etc than the Entertainment Centre where I saw KISS on their previous tour. Considering how hot it was in the crowd when those burners went up, I wouldn't have been suprised to see KISS on fire literally as well as metaphorically.
The retrospective with film clips was excellent, bringing back many memories from KISS over the years, and reminding us all how greatly they will be missed.
And the music, too brought back many fantastic memories not only of KISS themselves, but of where we were in our lives when we heard a particular song. As one bloke said: "This is great! I'm a kid again!".
I notice that other people, in their reviews, have commented on the occassional technical problem or "Gene fluffed his line on the intro to..." etc. Get a life PEOPLE!
The show was (are there really words?)... either you have experienced it for yourself - in which case I don't need to explain it to you, or you are not a fan and think we are all quite mad. If the latter is the case, then the best I can do is quote one girl's T-shirt: "I'm a KISS fan. Deal with it!"
A note to the local paper (Gold Coast Bulletin) which ran the obligatory review (with front page photo featuring Gene's tongue) to tell everyone else what they missed - it was not Gene Simmons who was bare-chested, it was Paul Stanley. Get it right PEOPLE.
It was great the following day to see how interested many people were in the concert. I was wearing my 'Legends Never Die' tour T-shirt around the place - got 'serenaded' by screaming/singing KISS fans from passing cars, asked about the concert by heaps of people (including some kids who no doubt weren't allowed to go by their mothers - some things never change!) and just generally heaps of positive vibes.
KISS is dead. Long Live KISS. Legends Never Die.
