KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Greg
I thouroughly enjoyed the show. Skid Row & Uncle Ted both showed up. The power to Nugent's guitar cut out twice during Cat Scratch Fever, and he had quite an expletive-laden chewing out for his stage right tech. Other songs included Stranglehold, Free For All, Wang Dang Sweet Poontang, and the Great White Buffalo. He ended his set with the flaming arrow through his guitar.

KISS' pyrotechnics were all in place; Vegas fire marshalls obviously had no safety concerns. The boys were in great voice, and their somewhat tepid appearance on VH1 (the live broadcast of the Phoenix show) was nowhere to be seen. Arrangements were tight and the Mandalay Bay acoustics were great. They performed the best version of "Deuce" I've ever heard. A pleasant surprise was the addition of "2000 Man" to the setlist. I also heard a few riffs of "She" in Ace's solo (too bad they didn't do the whole song.) A light moment: when Paul introduced "I Stole Your Love" he said "This one's off 'Love Gun'...last night I said it was off 'Rock & Roll Over,' but it wasn't." I guess what with being around 50 years old and having done SO many albums, it's understandable to make a blunder like that! Just before curtain-time the show was announced as a sell-out...after the last encore 2 hours & 15 minutes later I think we all got more than our money's worth; I know I did. I saw them in 1977 and 1996, and truly no band delivers a show quite like KISS.
