Another masterpiece of rock history for the fans in Little Rock to keep burning in their memory for a long time. First off the guys were really on top of their game in L.R....with the exception of Peter. He played wonderful but he was apparently sick because he didn't sing at all last night.I noticed early on his backing vocals were not there like I heard him in Dallas a few nights before. But it was the end of the show that it became obvious something was wrong. Paul sang the entire song "Black Diamond"....at first I just thought Peter's mike wasn't working because it was in place but he pushed it away. But....when it was encore time "Beth" was ommitted completely...the group charged straight into RRAN. It didn't matter though...the guys completely "rocked"...and despite Pete's ailment he played his kit as solid as always. This was their fifth show in six days and I am not sure if the average guy knows how tough this is. This is a 2-1/2 hour slugfest...and our heroes are not 24 touring behind the first album anymore. So...as in my last review from Dallas...enjoy what we have been given guys...take it all in...celebrate it...this si the phenomenon called KISS...this ain't Hootie & the Blowfish. I get so tired of the so called fans on this list who rip and tear at the guys...man...go bitch about some of these "faceless acts" that we are all gonna be left with when the KISS tour is done.As Paul once said..."When you win the lottery..you don't complain about the taxes". So...now some bits about the show from my standpoint...
Detroit Rock City- It's blazing from the first licks..I love watching Paul count it off...you know the adrenaline is flowing...the video excerpt is cool too.
Deuce-Awesome...To me the ultimate Kiss song...the groove hammers you and the guys classic "rocking" motion was in perfect time.
Shout it Out Loud- Flawless....the drums sounded like cannons...Paul jumps up an octave at times and his voice really shines.
I Love it Loud- Pete's drums are like hammers on your chest...he and Ace are really giving these songs a bit of a new edge...just enough to give it the classic KISS sound.
Shock Me- Ace and Paul high five...and Ace delivers...he misses a vocal cue...but that is just Ace...he's always done that!!...It's what makes him Ace...kind of drifting at times...some people don't understand...that's the way he is...
Firehouse- Flaming!!....again Paul sings the song an octave up from the original at times...a cool new sound...Gene does the tradional Godzilla act...
Do You Love Me- Trying to listen and watch them and the awesome video is tricky...I had to concentrate on the video...my second time to see it...it is one of my favorite parts of this show.
Calling Dr. Love- Cured us all...
Psycho Circus- Ok...a lot of people are ripping this song live...it cooks people...it is a hard song to do I agree...but they do it excellent tonight...cool video excerpts too...
Heaven's On Fire- If anyone questions Paul's voice or Pete's drumming...give a listen to this one.....it blisters ya.....
Le Me Go, Rock & Roll- I think the most "rocking" song of this show..it is a total jam...they are having a ball with this one...
2,000 Man- Ace does a good job on this one...probably my least favorite song of the set...but the guys back him up nicely and he finishes up with his best solo I think. New licks...old licks...classic Kiss songs...cool...
Lick It Up- I love this version...the intro...the new Ace solo...he puts classic Kiss licks in it...
God Of Thunder- Rules us all...just watch his eyes on the video...he's living it out...every second...
Cold Gin- Time again...absolute thirst quencher...
100,00 Years- This one sounds better than ever...Pete's short solo is solid...and Paul's frontman skills take over...reminds me of the "Alive" album...
Love Gun- As Paul flies out the crowd is totally electric...his stage was swarmed with fans...
Black Diamond- Paul does an excellent job with the entire song beacause of Pete's ailment...the classic finish...
RRAN- No Beth because Pete's sick...but the finale is the grand moment of the evening...it'll hit you in the gut by this time...grab some confetti to take home...and on your way out buy the shirt for your city...the best souvenier you can have....."I WAS THERE"...and be damn glad you were......
