This was a truly special night for me. Not only was this my 27th KISS concert,
but I took my 11 year old son Nicholas with me and we did it in style. For his
birthday present, I bought two third row center tickets. I took him to the Psycho
Circus concert in Dayton, Ohio but we had awful tickets. We didn't watch Skid Row
but when the lights went out for Uncle Ted, he wanted to see what the view from
our seats were like so we went down to the floor. When he saw that we were that
close to the stage he was mesmerized. He couldn't take his eyes off of Ted. The
first time you go to a concert and sit that close and the first thing you see is
Ted Nugent 10 feet from you, it does blow you away! But when the lights went down
for Kiss, we both spent two hours in heaven. I knew that he had no idea what he
was in for. Bombs going off, sparks flying up, fire shooting up, all from the
third row was incredible! The thing that really blew him away was Gene vomiting
blood and flying! For a couple of weeks prior to the show, all he could talk about
was getting a guitar pick. I tried to tell him that even though we were close,
don't get your hopes up. I ended up getting a Gene and a Paul pick and during Beth,
he himself got a Peter Criss pick. After the show, a roadie motioned us over and
handed him a pick. It was an Ace pick! How cool is that! The whole experience
was a great birthday present for him and it allowed me to watch him during the
show which made me feel awesome! They truly are the hottest band in the world! I
kind of realize that the Cincinnati show will probably be my last and I have a
feeling that my friends might have to drag me out of Riverbend because I don't
want it to be over! If it is, it was a great ride!
The next day, my son snagged his tour shirt on the fence while cutting grass. It was the one that had the Alive 4 cover on the front and on the back it says KISS rocks Louisville! I was there! It's ripped to shredds! If anyone knows where I can get another one of these shirts, please e-mail me at btirey@msn.com
