KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: BigAl
Rather than re-hash what everyone else has said about this show, I'll just throw in my 2 cents. The show was AWESOME! The day started with Gene doing a lengthy interview on Rock103 (he was calling from Chattanooga. Gene went over the usual stuff. On the way to the show, I caught the tail end of Drake and Zeke interviewing Randy Bast(if you check your tour book, he's the Pyro guy). Did I hear him say he would only be on the tour for a few more shows? I'm not sure, but Randy lives around the corner from me so you can bet I'll be looking for him (thats right, Randy lives in the Memphis area and has been doing the Pyro for Kiss for years). Before the show, I also caught one of the Marky B/ROCK103 Kiss t-shirts. Its a rare find and looks good.

Skid Row was ok, and Nugent rocked!

But the night was really all KISS! Everyone one was tight. I enjoyed Paul imitating Elvis and singing a verse of Shock Me. This is the 4th time I've seen Kiss since they re-united, and it was by far the best show. I especially enjoyed the old photos displayed during a few of the songs. It was an interesting trip down memory lane, and I felt chills roll across my arm. I was on the 4th row and got some really good close-up shots of the band and a pic, and I'm sure one of them will end up framed and on my wall.

Kiss has rocked Memphis for years, starting at Lafayettes music hall in 1974, then onto Ellis auditorium, then for many shows with and without makeup at the Coliseum, then finally 2 shows at the Pyramid. I wish i could say I had seen them all, but I did manage to catch all of the shows since the 1979 Dynasty tour. The tourbook provides an interesting history of their concerts, and I was glad to see the non-makeup years included. Buy it if you can!

TIP: I didn't want to wait in line before the show to get a shirt, so I went afterwards. I was disappointed they were sold out of the Memphis shirts. Get you city shirt early if you want one.

Thanks Kiss for 3 decades of memories of Rock and Roll!
