KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: jdaubs@yahoo.com
This was my 8th time seeing KISS in concert and have thoroughly enjoyed each time. Skid Row seemed to be really be on that night. The crowd seemed to get into the songs and the drumming was excellent. The lead singer did a nice job of involving the crowd (references to the Old Milwaukee Beer he was drinking didn't hurt). I think if the crowd would give them a chance they'd be pleasantly surprised. Of the 17,000 sell out crowd very few even sat to listen to Skid Row. Ted came on and was the usual uncle Ted making his political views very well known. His song kiss my ass really pumped up the crowd. Ted's drummer was absolutely phenominal! I was diappointed with the crowd...it wasn't until Ted's 4th song that people actually went to their seats. How many beer runs can a person make? Next came the main event KISS! When the curtain came down with the KISS logo on it everyone stood on their feet. Some idiots brought lazer pointers and shined them on the KISS logo, which delayed the KISS entrance as they used the lights to find the jerks with the lazer pointers. KISS then came down from the rafters and the fans just went nuts (very cool way to enter). Gene was very active at the beginning bouncing up and down and prowling the stage. Ace was just hot! I have never seen Ace this exciting...I thought of the four he was by far and away the best. Paul did his usual antics to get the crowd into it and it worked. I do agree with an earlier review which stated that Paul seems to be pacing himself more and more. Paul seemed to pick his spots during the show to "show off". Peter really seemed tired because everytime his face came on the screen he was sucking wind. I disagree with the comments made on 2000 man...the special effects were spectacular with that song. I do agree with the comments on Psycho circus...it just doesn't seem to fit in (but they have to that song to promote their video game.) KISS really had problems with special effects that night. The big screen behind Peter did not work all night and when Paul tried to use the rope to fly into the audience he could not get it to work. Also there just didn't seem to be the pyrotechnics that I am use to seeing KISS use. The end of the show was confetti, and pyro galore but not during the show and the KISS logo signs behind them rarely lit up. Again the fans in Milwaukee were just idiots! Throwing beer on each other, making beer runs during the KISS concert (One heavy man in front of me got so drunk he fell over on top the girl next to him) and booing Paul before peforming cold gin when he told the people not to drink and drive because we have alot of years left to live I have to say this is not the best show I have ever KISS put on. The one at Kemper Arena in Kansas City on the reunion tour and the one in Ames, Iowa also on the reunion tour were by far and away the best. Did I get my moneys worth from this perfomance...ABSOLUTELY! I wish them all the best and thank them for being such a big part of my life. ( I have been a KISS fan since 1975!)
