KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Keith L.
Brrrrrrrr!!!!!Not necessarily the best setting for an outdoor concert. On the lakefront with temperatures hovering around 45 degrees. Our main venue for indoor shows,The Bradley Center had to leave the date open for possible playoff games with the Milwaukee Bucks so they scheduled outdoors. My first thought was, will we be cheated by having the show outside? Not a chance,Kiss brought everything along and were we ready for a great show.I've read how some "critics" were very critical of Skid Row's new singer. If you had your eyes closed you couldn't tell the difference.Skid played about a half an hour and then Uncle Ted hit the stage.I never saw Nuge before so this was gonna be a first for me.It's amazing how much this man is respected. He doesn't have to jump over amps anymore to get people's attention, just his presence made the crowd go crazy. He referred to us as "Milwackee"so that was kinda cool.I came away very impressed with the set.Now it was time for the big boys,KISS.Opened up with D.R.C and followed with Deuce. They went on to play Heavens on Fire(much to the crowds approval),Shock Me,and basically all the same songs from the past 2 tours, minus Strutter and Into the void.Show was going great until it was time for Love Gun,after they brought up the "noise meter" Paul said he was gonna come out and be closer to us.Well...that didn't happen, the crew couldn't get the pulley to work so Paul proceded to play from the main stage.(strike one).I might add that they had trouble with the big screen behind Peter so finally thay cut that out.(Strike 2)No problems with Gene going up during God of Thunder.Looks like they pulled that one off. After every two songs or so Paul would tell us how much Kiss will miss us and how much they love us.(Strike 3)That got old real fast. With the exception of the song choices.I thought it was just another concert.I thought it was good but not great.I don't think Kiss intended on leaving us with a bad impression but it just wasn't up to standards. Time to play critic...2 out of 4 stars.
