Overall everything was pretty good! Kiss put out another good show, but one
thing that struck me was that there were a lot of empty seats in the upper
section. I thought it would have been sold out, but then again this was the
second time they played here on this tour. Even with the empty seats, Kiss
didn't seem to mind, and neither did the audience. The crowd was pretty
involved and sang every song. This night I was sitting over by Gene, and
when I saw them in May I was by Ace. The set list was exactly the same,
and so were virtually all of Paul's raps with the audience. Paul even
yelled at John, the video director, again....but somehow I doubt that it
was rehearsed. One good thing was that the Center video screen didn't crap
out every time Peter hit his bass drum, like it did last time. It was nice
seeing all the cool effects and images with the video this time around. Ace
commented that he almost got burned when his guitar was smoking just before
it gets hoisted into the air. Ace was also waiting a little longer than normal
for the second shooting of fireworks from his guitar. He started to look
around for help. One thing I didn't expect was a section of the lighting
truss to come crashing down. I didn't see that happen last time when Ace
shot fireworks from hit guitar. At first I thought it was an accident, but
I guess it was planned. All in all, Kiss delivered. Back in May, when Kiss
played, I was in total denial that this would be the last time I saw Kiss.
Luckily, I got last nights chance to see them again! This time I was a bit
sad though, realizing that this was my last time seeing them......or so I
think! :) I just read the Kiss Asylum news and it looks like the tour may
be extended. Maybe I'll see them again. :) One side note...There seemed to
be more Kids at this show than the one in May.
For the Openers, Skid Row wasn't as good as I remembered them back in May. I think they shortened their set list too. Ted Nugent was great again! He Used a couple more guitars than last time. His set was similar, except this time he played his song to Fred Bear and had some hunting video footage on the screen, along with a campfire buring on the stage during this song! It was different and cool. He also used his Zebra striped guitar for this song, the one that is in the Damn Yankees "High Enough" video. Other than these details, his set was almost the same. He had pretty much the same raps with the audience as in May, except he didn't make fun of "Prince" this time around.
If I were to sum up the evening, I'd say it was almost a carbon copy of the show in May, with a few differences and improvements. Thanks, Kiss, for the great times and memories! Please come back! :)
