Ok folks just back from Nagoya, and holy shit what a show!!!! Let me start
at the most exciting part; after I was made for loving you (and the usual
Japan set list preceding it), Paul started playing some very familiar
sounding chords it took me a few seconds to realize what it was GOT TO
CHOOSE!!!!! I was going bezerk, and so were most people, a real frenzy of
pumping fists broke out, it was just magical, and it sounded great!!! And,
to my surprise, they played like 75% of the song, up until the second chorus
(I think), it was just awesome. I never heard that song live before (except
unplugged), in person or on bootleg. But this is not the end of
it next PARASITE!!!! The frenzy goes on, unbelievable. They played perhaps
half of the song nd then, SHE!!!!! They played the whole song until it goes
into the jamming section after Aces guitar solo I was in heaven and
next.Paul cranks out some heavy chords, MAKING LOVE!!!!!! By this time I
was basically hyperventilating (I am serious people). They only played like
half of the song or so, and then broke into the final number Rock and Roll
all night, and the house was going nuts. What a show, definitely one of the
best Kiss shows I have ever seen. The band was tight and seemed really fired
up, lots of smiles and little jokes going on, and the audience was awesome
too. I hope I am able to convey the electricity of the show tonight like
this over the email. I guess this potpurri is what they played in the US
this fall, although as far as I can remember they didn’t play Got to
Choose right? I was so surprised that they played such big parts of the
songs. The good people of Nagoya sure got themselves a treat (they did not
do this in Yokohama or Tokyo, don’t know about Fukuoka).
Actually I remember now, before the potpuri they fooled around and played La
Bamba as well, initiated by Gene who sang a bit.
Pauls son was sitting out by the platform where Paul sings Love Gun must
be weird being 7 years old (or six or whatever he is) to see your own dad
like that.
The rest of the show was pretty much the same as the other Japan shows, no
mishaps really as far as I can recall.
It was a great night, and like I said, the band really seemed fired up.
Basically, 2 hrs and 15 min of sheer joy and excitement, 15,000 or so happy
people in the audience and 4 guys on stage who appeared to have a great
time. I couldn’t help asking myself, why the hell is this band retiring??
The merchandise was selling like crazy, I had to line up for ever to get my
hands on some stuff.
The Japanese program is basically a photographic summary of the entire Kiss
carrer. Towards the end there is a photo on a loose sheet, obviously printed
after the program itself, with Singers photograph in make up with a
handwritten message from him. On the opposite page there is a photo of Peter
in make up ooks pretty weird seeing them both like this next to each other.
Ok, time to calm down and get some food two more shows here in Osaka on Wed
and Thursday, then I will go into mourning!
