KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Andrew Watson
Skid Row came on at about 7:00 p.m. They were OK, the new lead singer is pretty cool.

Then The Motor City Madman. Now, this was the first time I had ever seen Ted Nugent, so I was expecting him to be so loud that it was painful, but really he seemed quiet compared to Skid Row. This was a good thing though, because Skid Row just sounded like a bunch of jibberish. I didn't know what they were saying a bit more than the man in the moon. Ted Nugent was great though. He actually got the crowd to have a moment of silence in honor of Joe Cooper, a Nasvhille cop who had been shot earlier in the day. He then deemed it necessary to apologize for Cat Scratch Fever because it was so sexy. It was hilarious. He said "On this one even the Nasvhille pussy are gonna be eatin' pussy." For Wang Dang Sweet Poontang "Even the faggots are gonna be eatin' pussy." Hilarious. Great White Buffalo was great and so was the arrow through the guitar. I wish people would shut up about his rantings. I for one agreed with everything he said. To sum up Ted Nugent's performance in! one word: GREAT.

Now it was time for the Main Event: KISS. They hit the stage to a HUGE ovation and broke into Detroit Rock City. It was so cool seeing them live, finally. This was my first time to see KISS live as well. Deuce was awesome as was the whole show. Ace did Shock Me. A funny part of the show: Ace was about to do 2,000 Man but said it was Shock Me. Paul then said something to him and Ace came back and said, "Well, we've already done that one so I guess we'll do 2,000 Man now!" Somebody said earlier about what a staple to the concert Psycho Circus was and I agree, a great arena rocker song. The 80's material sounded great and Ace and Peter seemed to be enjoying themselves. Peter sounded great, not tired like some people have been saying. Black Diamond was great. Rock And Roll All Nite was obviously the highlight of the show with God Of Thunder being second. Gene looked a whole lot like the cover of Alive II on the screen and during the song the screen had Gene's face like it is on the back of Dressed To Kill. It was awesome. It's hard to explain what it looked like, but it was cool. This show was the coolest thing I have ever seen. I hope KISS doesn't really call it quits after this. Something I've noticed in all the interviews, they always say "This is the last tour for this lineup." I bet Ace will probably quit being replace by somebody and Gene, Paul, Peter, and somebody else will continue on. Hopefully. That is fine with me because I got to see the original four in costume and makeup! Paul said "Never forget us, we will never forget you." He doesn't have to worry about that. I will always remember this night as long as I live.
