KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Mr9
After fighting some serious crowds, we finally got to our seats as Skid Row hit the stage, WITH Dave Sabo coming out on crutches and playing the whole show. The new singer did well on some songs and butchered a couple of other ones. Ted Nugent came out about 20 minutes later, and after thinking I wouldn't like his set too much, I was surprised a what a show he put on. He played about 9 songs even coming out for an encore and ending by shooting a flaming arrow at his guitar during "Great White Buffalo".

As the lights finally went down for KISS, you could tell that the place was a sellout. The band descended from the elevator platform and then the hottest band in the world was announced. Having read these other reviews, I pretty much knew what KISS was playing and there were not many surprises song wise. But, the stage show is totally awesome looking and the light show was very cool. More pyro than I have ever seen, and it was really cool to see the addition of stairways on either side of Peter. After seeing KISS three other times, I am always wary of Ace Frehley being sloppy on his guitar, but I was TOTALLY impressed with Ace. No wrong notes, no sloppiness and good vocals. Peter seemed to also be in top form, and I attribute alot of this to having the night before off. Gene was typical Gene, and despite having what sounded like a little hoarseness when talking to the crowd, Paul's vocals were strong and he seemed very into the evening. The only technical problems that I could see was with the middle big screen tv, which seemed to have some sort of malfunction during one song. Otherwise, the best KISS show I have been to. More confetti than ever and they must've thrown out 300 picks. A very cool thing to pick up are the t-shirts personalized for each city. KISS rocked (insert city here) and I was there. And then it goes on to list all of the other dates that they have been to that particular city. Very cool. And the tour book is by far the thickest ever even though it pays a striking resemblence to KISSTORY.
