Ok, just back home from the first of the two Osaka shows. Another great
show!! Everything pretty much the same as on the other Japan shows, but with
a few exceptions.
Before I Still Love You, the crystal ball didn’t work. Paul seemed a bit annoyed, and then, as if to buy time, he started playing FOREVER, and he sang it until the beginning of the second chorus (I think). Awesome singing (Paul’s voice is by far the most valuable asset Kiss has in my opinion). A nice surprise. The crystal ball still didn’t work, so he did I still Love you and the the intro to BD as usual.
During one of the early songs in the set, there was something wrong with Pauls guitar, he may have broken a string, and a roadie gave him the wooden coloured one he normally uses during LMGRNR (and other songs).
The big question was, would they do the medley thing?? The answer is, yes they started it off with HOTTER THAN HELL!!!!!!! It was great, a real treat. They played like a bit more than half of it or so. After that, SHE, almost the whole song, followed by PARASITE (actually She and Parasite may have been the other way around). At this point hey were all sort of fooling around on stage, and I think Ace, Gene and Eric were ready to do one more, but Paul seemed to get impatient and yelled out the intro for RARAN. I think I detected some slight tension between Ace and Gene here (although I may well have misread the situation); Paul was saying something, probably trying to communicate to Gene what song they should play next (this was in the medley towards the end of Hotter than hell Gene and Paul had stopped playing and Ace and Eric kept going), Gene went up to the mike and said “You know its funny, I cant hear a word you are saying (meaning what Paul was saying) cuz this guy keeps torturing me (pointing towards Ace). Maybe they were just kidding around, but I got the feeling Gene was annoyed.
The big screen behind the stage had a few mishaps as well, didn’t work properly several times.
Paul is really getting into speaking Japanese to the audience (to their delight); he has learnt to master some simple phrases. He also lead the audience through a traditional Japanese song (like in Nagoya), the audience and Paul sang two verses of it.
This time Ace made it back on time in God of Thunder after the drum solo this is the first time this has happened during the shows I have seen here in Japan.
Ok, that’s all. One more show to go for me tomorrow night, then the Kiss extravaganza is over for this time, and I guess forever for me.
