KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Peter
My third show in 6 days, fourth of the tour, and perhaps(?) my last. Fittingly, Ottawa is the site of my first KISS show (July '77) and my last.

Second row centre on the floor in full Gene gear. I won't bother you with the regular details. But let me be the first to let everyone out there know that the set list has changed!!! Or at least they are starting to play with it. There are several reports already about the medleys that were played in Binghampton and Syracuse prior to R&RAN. Having attended those shows I was eager to see what would happen tonight. Well, Paul teased the audience with the beginning vocals of 'I was made for loving you' and said something like "when we're in Canada we we like to mix things up, play something different". Well, to the absolute thrill of 9,000 strong, they proceeded to play IWMFLU (ha, we have a new acronym for the set lists!!). I don't mean a minute or so, but the whole song including the high vocals (Paul got them, but it was a challenge). I know that this song made not be at the top of some of you direhard's wish lists, but it rocked! Ace really seemed to enjoy the guitar groove. I also noticed that Paul did a little less chit chat tonight (I'd swear he skipped the 'don't drink and drive' preamble to Cold Gin).

Having seen a few shows I can make some general observations. Luv it loud, doctor love, and psyco circus stand out every night - powerful and played to perfection. Firehouse, on the other hand, seems a bit aged - Paul does't put a lot of effort in to the vocals on this one. People should also appreciate just how much work the boys put in each and every night. KISS RULES and don't you forget it!
