KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Dan
It was the third KISS show I went to after Psycho Circus in Montreal and The farewell Tour, also in Montreal. It was an interesting show to say the least.

Serial Joe: They replaced Ted Nugent, who was in Montreal. I was glad he was taken off. I never was a fan, and I thought his set in Montreal was boring. But then again, I was never a fan. Anyway, I hoped Serial Joe would be better, but it was bad. In one of the song, the guitar player unplugged his guitar twice jumping around. A wireless system could have helped...

Skid Row: Their set in Montreal was great, focusing on the first two albums. Tonight's was good, but there were a couple of songs I didn't know from their third album. Great energy though. They played the usual hits, plus a couple of old songs like Get The Fuck Out and The Ramones' Psychotherapy. Great version. I was hoping for a C'Mon And Love Me cover, but it didn't happen.

The Main Event: A lot of funny stuff happened throughout the show. First, the front curtain wouldn't drop during the opening, so the guys were basically down on the stage when the crew finally got it down. The set was the same as in Montreal with the exception of one song during the encore. Gene screwed up the lyrics in the first verse of Shout It Out Loud. During Psycho Circus, Ace lost track of the song during the solo and he had to look at Paul to get back on track. One of my friend told me he was close of getting sick when Gene spit his blood. It was great! Peter didn't have a solo this time (he had one in Montreal), but he seemed to enjoy the show, smiling every time he was on the giant screen. There was a great spot in Cold Gin where Peter and Ace did a little playing with each other. Paul did I Still Love You just before entering into Black Diamond. It was a bit longer than in Montreal. He got the song up to the solo if I remember well. The great thing was them jamming through I Was Made For Loving You during the encore. Paul said they hadn't played it in one year, but that in French places, people usually digged it. He started playing it alone on guitar, then Peter got in on drums, followed by Gene on bass. They started playing it, but the crowd asked for more, so they played it. Ace was looking like he was trying to remember the chords. It was really fun to see that. They ended the night with Rock N'Roll All Nite almost two hours and a half after the opening notes of Detroit Rock City. The greatest show on Earth? Damn right!
