KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Tony Smith
The excitement was in the air.Mine was at a peak! Kiss missed Roanoke on the P.C.tour so I had not seen them since the reunion in '96. On the first notes of Detroit Rock City, the place erupted. The crowd went to their feet immediatly and stayed that way through the whole show.I did what I have always done at KISS shows,I stood up, pumped my fist in the air, sung along to the songs, but something told me tonight was going to be different.During the song Do You Love Me,the big screen showed footage of the band from the beginning to today. As I watched the footage tears began to roll down my face as I realized this is it,we will never be able to go back to those days ever again!!!! By the time Love Gun rolled around,Paul was ready to take to the air, but the rope had a slight delay in rising no big deal.Gene's bass pounding, blood spitting antics won the crowd over as usual.Ace's guitar was smokin'& shootin' on target.I especially liked his solo when he incorperated bits & pieces of other KISS tunes.Peter Criss bless his soul, put 120% into the show and toward the end he may have looked exhausted, but never lost his intensity!! When Beth started I tried to sing along as I always had but the tears flowed again and I couldn't.He thanked us for all the great years and that really got me. Rock and Roll All Nite-Cannons erupt, confetti blows through the whole place, tears flow again as I know we were at the end of this final KISS show in Roanoke,Va.Paul repeatedly thanked the crowd for making his dreams come true or theirs I should say he spoke on behalf of the entire band. When the house lights came up, I wentto exit the civic center. When I got to the rear of the building I stopped, turned around, looked diretly at the KISS logo and bowed and said goodbye.I write this on May 6,2000 and I am still depressed. On a scale of what was the best KISS show I ever seen,it has to be the farewell show.
