TED NUGENT: Ted was cool back in the 70's. Now he's a bitter, homophobic, racist with a major chip on his shoulder. Besides that, he's too cheap to bring Derek St. Holmes along for the ride. All the hillbillies in the crowd dug his act and that's all that matters, right?
KISS: After seeing the opening night special on VH1 I wasn't going to go. I'm glad I changed my mind. Someone earlier complained about the Roanoke crowd. The audience was standing, screaming and dancing where I was at. If the people in the back and way up on the sides want to sit down, who cares?.
You've read a hundred reviews already so I'm only going to mention a few things that stuck out to me: Peter's cowbell playing in Deuce, Gene marching in place during I Love It Loud, Let Me Go Rock n Roll sounding raw and great, Lick It Up being one of the worst songs ever, Gene and Ace still doing the tongue thing, Paul being one of the few rhythm guitarists you actually get to hear, the weird color negative of Gene shown on the screens at the end of God of Thunder, all of them (even Ace) looking like they were having a blast, not being able to see most of the stage during the confetti storm, hearing Bad Motor Scooter right before they went on, having a church business card that read "the wages of sin is DEATH" left on my windshield after the show.
If you go to this concert and can only walk out thinking "Ace blew the solo in this song or that song" or "man, the pyro was really off on Love Gun" then you have seen KISS way too many times and should just stay at home.
