KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Terri Bey
Well, I decided that Lubbock was one of the best KISS shows I had EVER been to. What could top it? Well, it turns out it would be my tenth show at San Antonio's Alamodome. However, we will get to that in a minute. The day before the show, I get my flight from Lubbock to San Antonio and my hotel has their driver drive me to the airport. I find out from the driver that ( I am still KICKING MY SELF for NOT putting two and two together) she had to go back and pick up SKID ROW. That's right, SKID ROW was staying at the same hotel I was!!!! Oh man. Of course, I didn't think about it, but of course ALL THREE BANDS were staying in San Antonio. DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Talk about near miss!!!! Anyway, on my flight I meet the promoter and give him the URL for my website, TERRI'S COMET. Cool huh?

I arrive in San Antonio, get my rental car and get to my hotel room and go downtown. I was walking down the Riverwalk and stuff and went to the Alamo where Ozzy made his "mark". LOL Very cool. OF course it is a historical place and I found it very interesting. I went to the Riverwalk Mall which a Marriott was attached. Well there were two. More later.

Anyway, now it is the day of the show and I do some more walking around and I then park the car near the arena and walk along a walkway to the arena with other KISS fans. There was a radio station playing music and giving away KISS tix for the next night's show in Houston. I was waiting and talking with a couple of gals I had met before earlier and they finally let us in about 6:30pm. AGAIN, I could have goten a camera in. I am so mad as when I got to my seat, I discovered I had SECOND ROW CENTER!!!!! How sweet is that!!!

Anyway, I saw Skid Row, and they were pretty good. The singer was better than in Lubbock. I still prefer Bach.

I walked around during Ted's set and ran into two friends from Toronto and ran into Tommy Thayer and DOc McGhee and spoke with them and found out that Doc did give Ace my condolence card. They are cool people to talk to.

I get to my seat during Ted's set and I think I issed his controversial remarks. I have always had reservations about having Ted on the bill because he DOES spew his remarks. HEY he DOES have his right to free speech like everyone else, but I feel he should do it at another setting, not a rock concert. Rock and poltics do NOT mix, in my opinion. Ted put on a good show, what I saw of it.

Before the show, I ran into my friend, Phil Hunt of the KISS KONNECTION website who had a photo pass and told me about the UNION shows he had seen . We had a nice chat and then he would introduce me to his Swedish friends after the show.

Now, the show:

I thought Lubbock was awesome: S. Anotonio blew Lubbock away. I had never seen KISS so ON. The whole band was so good. Peter kept the time like a watch!!! He was up there enjoying himself, smiling constantly. He did a great job during Beth and Black Diamond. Paul was in such a great voice, I was just floored. I just stood there and enjoyed listening to him. He was flirting with the gals and doing his butt wiggling. Gene was his usual demonic self and God Of Thunder went well for him this time.

Ace, well, I can't say anything bad about him this night. He was just about flawless. I was just about hoarse screaming for him in Lubbock, but I had enough left for screaming for him in San Antonio. He was simply awesome. He put 2001 in his solo as well as the medley. I caught his blue pick right before Psycho Circus and ( my prized possession) his black towel at the end of the show. Wicked cool!!!!! He winked at me again during the show. B****IN'!!!

All in all, a totally awesome show that I will be talking about for a long time.

The only bad thing that happened was that my Metal Edge Farewell magazine got soaked in beer when it fell off my chair and got ruined and could not be saved. My Farewell T shirt for san Antonio shirt got wet too, but at least I could wash it. However, it can't erase a great memory.
