KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Ken
I must admit, of all the rock concerts I've been to, this was, and probably always will be, the highlight of my life. This comes from a 25 year old dude who has been told that Nirvana is the king of rock and roll, and that's what my generation should listen to. F**K THAT! This was my first, and probably last, time to see Kiss, and they truly live up to their reputation as the "HOTTEST BAND IN THE WORLD!"

My sister and I got there as Skid Row was performing. They were OK, but just not the same without Sebastian Bach. The new singer looks and tries to act like him, but not the same screeching I'm used to from Skid Row. Oh well...the favs were there, "Youth Gone Wild," "I Remember You," etc.

Then came the Nuge! He rocked! I saw him before in the Damn Yankees, but his performance here was much better. All of the classics were here, including my fav, "Kiss My Ass." He spoke his mind, and that's what made him cool. I'm sure that some of the crowd wanted to lynch him with what he said and where we were located, but at least he spoke his mind...free speech, what a concept!!! ROCK ON, TED!

Then, my four makeup clad heroes descended from the ceiling, and blew me away with Detroit Rock City! My brothers and sisters collected all of their albums, and I thought of them as real life superheroes instead of rock stars when I was young. THEY ARE BOTH! The pyro was awesome. They belted through my favs, including "Deuce," "Calling Dr. Love," "Shock Me," "2000 Man," and "Shout It Out Loud."

Ace has always been my favorite member. The spaceman didn't disappoint me! His smoking guitar and rocket shooting were great! He played some stuff from Hard Times, New York Groove, and Snow Blind, which was cool!

Peter seemed to be really wore out. Don't get me wrong, he played great, and "Beth" was beautiful, but he seemed to be barely hitting the drums all night. I guess when you are plagued with arthritis and 53 year old age, it really shows! Still, I wouldn't change a thing. The catman is great! Seeing him play "Lick It Up" and "I Love It Loud" would have to be my favs.

Gene did not fail to be his demonic self. The blood wasn't as thick (looked a little watery, gross I know) as I expected, but still ok. The fire breathing was cool. I would have maybe liked to see more of a bass solo, but hey, I can't complain!

Paul was, is, and always will be the ringmaster of the band. He interacts with the crowd really well. Seeing him fly out to the crowd island for "Love Gun" was the highlight. At first, I didn't think the crowd would get loud enough for him to do it, but it finally happened.

"Rock And Roll All Nite," the show closer, a sad, and yet, happy moment. Confetti everywhere, spilled beer making my shoes stick to the floor, pot smoke heavy in the air, and the best fireworks show hands down! The best concert I've ever seen...I'll never forget it.
