KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Seamus O'Reilly
Here we go, the last stop on my KISS tour, the 18th of the tour for me, 19th of the year including New Year's. The last few months I've been dreading this show as most likely it will be my last KISS show ever. I want to go to New York but realistically tickets will be impossible to get. But maybe in some weird way it was fitting this be my last show as I've never heard the original 4 play better than they did here. The best KISS show was my first-Oakland in 92, and then this. The entire time I was waiting for some small mistake but it never came. Maybe it did but I was concentrating so hard I did not catch it. Nonetheless...

Usually before a show I'll talk to the people around me but not tonight. I had alot on my mind. After Bad Motor Scooter (sp?) there was yet another song which surprised me. Then the lights went down and for the last time I yelled along to "You wanted the best..." Before Do You Love Me, when Paul does his usual speech he said that tonight the tour crossed the 1, 000, 000 people number. I laughed and included myself 18 times. During Ace's solo some guy jumped on stage and immediately fell before security could get to him. Before Cold Gin Paul told some guy with a laser pointer "I'll put it up so far inside you..."-I cant understand why people bring those. Anyhow, Paul dropped the mic during 100, 000 Years.

But again the show was incredibe. On the Lost Cities tour and a few shows of the Psycho Circus tour Paul sings Love Gun a bit different. Its hard to explain but when he sings "dont try to lie" he drags it out and makes his voice go down (confused yet?). Well, I know what I mean and I havent heard him do it forever and I love this version and I went nuts for it. Nearly every song I got teary eyed, my last God of Thunder, etc. It's still a weird concept to me, no longer will I get excited to buy tickets or put on my trusty KISS jacket before entering the venue. I took all this for granted, it never really dawned on me that a KISS concert would no longer be a part of my life.

Some people would laugh at this and say I have no life or whatever but this band has been a BIG part of my life since the first time I heard I Just Wanna in 92. Alot of good times-crying when I met Gene in 95, camping out in the snow for Seattle tickets, front row at the Vancouver New Year's show, running up insane credit card bills this entire tour, etc. Any non-KISS fan wont understand what Im trying to say here but any fan will. As Gene said "it goes beyond song." Yeah, I love bands like Sentenced but I'm not going to fly half way across the country to see them. I could go on for 5 pages with this but Ill spare ya. To Gene, Paul, Peter, Ace, Eric, Vinnie, Mark, Bruce and Eric-y'all mean a whole lot to me. I'll never forget you guys. See you in my dreams!
