KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Neko Taikoka
This was my THIRD show this week and I can honestly say that KISS has got their show down to an exact science. They are as consistent as the sun rising in the east and setting in the west. Of course each show had some minor differences, but when it comes down to recreating the shear spectacle that only KISS can do, they've got it down.

This was my 2nd look at the new entrance and I am still equally impressed. Overall, I believe that the show literally and figuratively starting from the top works much better than having to figure out just where to stand and when to start.

Overall the show was as I said before - consistent, yet one needs to have a sense of history with this band in order to know what an honor it is seeing them going out "on top" really means.

I first discovered the band as a 16 year old, 10th grade high school student on Long Island, NY. I saw the band several times beginning with the Destroyer/RARO tour, Love Gun tour, Dynasty tour and even Eric Carr's debut at the Palladium on 25 July 1980.

For me, that was the "FAREWELL TOUR" as without Peter Criss behind the drum kit, KISS just wasn't going to be the same. I was right.

I never had a desire to see them without make-up and never did. Never bought a w/o make-up album until several years after their release. It just wasn't KISS.

Of course the reunion tour was a rebirth of sorts for all things KISS, including my desire to see them once again. As fate might have it, the first reunion show I saw was on 25 July 1996, exactly 16 years to the day when I saw the "farewell" to the Catman (and to the real KISS).

Yes, the last three nights have been consistent, filled with nostaglia and perhaps a little magic. For here in Florida, the land of the fabled "fountain of youth" I got to be a kid again. So did KISS!

Both Paul and Peter expressed their thanks and gratitude to the crowd every night, with Peter asking that God bless each and everyone there.

I too would like to say Thanks and God Bless the four men who for 27 years followed their dreams and built a living legacy which will never die.

I am hopeful that I may be able to catch another "farewell" show down the line in another state, so perhaps we'll meet again.

My special thanks to everyone at KISS-ASYLUM for doing such a wonderful job on their site and for giving the fans a forum to express themselves with these tour reviews. I have enjoyed reading them all and writing 3 as well.

Once again, to PETER, PAUL, ACE & GENE - THANK YOU for so many years of pure enjoyment and entertainment!! Legends never die and neither shall the KISS...!!
