KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Dave Walsh
Well, this is probably my last review of a KISS concert. I saw them in Montreal the night before and Toronto today, and I guess this is it. It is a sad day for me. This is the 5th time seeing KISS (once without makeup, 4th time with makeup) and it was again awesome. The crowd was not as loud and wild as they were the night before in Montreal, but they were still good. The band however, as hard as it is for me to believe this after such a great show in Montreal, was even better! Peter had more energy right from the start (in Montreal he seemed nervous), but his solo was shorter. Ace, Paul, and Gene had lots of energy and seemed to have a great time. As Paul had spent 6 months in Toronto doing Phantom, I think he gave it a little more tonight. Very funny moment happened when Gene licks Aces neck. Ace stuck out his tongue, and their tongues touched! Both got a good laugh out of it. Later on in the show, after Black Diamond when the band does their farewell wave to the audience, Gene started chasing Peter around the stage bumb fucking him! Lots of laughs from the band tonight throughout the whole show. Ace disappeared quite a bit, obviously to visit the drink man, because he got noticeable drunker as the night went on. Gene went to Ace's side of the stage to find him just before 2000 Man and Ace popped up on stage just in time after Paul's intro, shrugged Gene off with a wave of his hand and stepped up to the mike and said to the audience, "Thanks to Mr. Wonderful, Paul Stanley". Crowd got a kick out of all of the antics. It's a sad day because musically, I think this lineup is better than it ever has been and the singing voices are definately clearer and louder. Peter doesn't even have a raspy voice anymore! I don't know how that happened, but for two nights in a row he was awesome for Black Diamond. Paul gave it his all.

I was back in row 40 for this show, which was different because I have typically been a lot closer, but it was cool for Love Gun because I was only ten feet away from Paul's mini stage and you get a totally different perspective back there. Paul was loving it, seemed to really have a great time and told the fans he loved them at every chance he got.

Overall, last night's show in Montreal and tonight's show in Toronto will go down as two of the best nights of my life. An awesome band, which is only getting better, is calling it quits and we're all going to have a void in our lives when this tour is finally done.

Keep Rocking and Rolling all Night and partying every day!
