KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Art
A few obversations about the great show KISS put on here in Columbia, MD (about halfway between Baltimore and Washington DC) at Merriweather Post Pavillion. The venue seemed to be about 90% full. I witnessed no major blunders from the band, and they seemed to be enjoying themselves. I was seated right next to Paul's mini stage, and really looked forward to Love Gun. They started to build the little stage during Cold Gin, so I knew it was getting close. Paul came flying out, and he had about 12 picks taped to his microphone. I figured that this will be my only opportunity to get one. He did not throw a single pick while playing. I was bummed, but glad for the chance to see him up close. The band kept alternating between saying Baltimore, and Washington DC, and I think Paul was a little thrown off when he got a good number of boos after he said Washington DC for the first time. He went on to say how it's OK to be proud of where you live, etc. I also found that when it came time for Gene to breathe fire, the technician and Gene met almost completely on stage to exchange the sword and fluid. Thought they would try and be out of sight for the exchange. Lastly, I saw some people after the show that had caught picks from just about all the guys. I was surprised at how generic they were. KISS on one side, signature on the other. I have Alive/Worldwide and Psycho Circus picks, that have that written on them. Thought they would have had Farewell on them.

All in all, a great show to end my memories of them on stage
